The Oak Point PTO is partnering with Fun2Raise to create and distribute the Oak Point directory for the 2017-18 school year.  In addition, Fun2Raise will also create and distribute a 2017-18 Oak Point full-color calendar to our families at the beginning of the school year.  The calendar will have our customized school dates, event schedules throughout the year, and school contact information.

These days, the important information often gets lost in the clutter of your inbox.  By providing a full-color directory and calendar chock-full of everything you need to know for our school, we know you will be extremely engaged and informed.

The 2017-18 Oak Point calendar and directory will present local businesses with great opportunities throughout the year.  Here is where you, as Oak Point Elementary School families, come in - Fun2Raise gives our families priority ad placement in the calendar and directory.  If you have a business or work for a company that would like to be a part of helping our school fund many of our current and future programs throughout the year, then this is the place for your advertising message.  Placement is on a first-come, first-served basis and spaces go fast!

The 2017-18 Oak Point calendar and directory will be distributed for free to every family and staff member in our school.  If you or anyone you know would like to place an ad in the 2017-2018 Oak Point calendar and/or directory, please email Jodi Rankin at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or you may reach her directly at 952-641-7100, ext. 101.  Jodi  will walk you through the process and help you choose a message or offer that will generate business for you and money for our school.

Additionally, the PTO is seeking sponsors for our Oak Point Fun Run t-shirts, which will be distributed free to every Oak Point student during our next Fun Run in November.  If you, your company, or anyone you know would like to help sponsor the Fun Run t-shirts, please contact Jodi at the email address or phone number above.

We look forward to providing our school with the highest level of tools and communication.

Educationally Yours,

Fun2Raise and the Oak Point PTO

OAK POINT STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK  Oak Point Staff Appreciation Week is May 8-12, 2017 and coincides with National Teacher Appreciation Week.  The Oak Point PTO encourages students and families to thank these everyday superheros - their teachers, staff, and administrators - during Staff Appreciation Week.  The PTO has a couple of templates available on our website for students to write a thank you note or draw a picture to their teachers or favorite staff members.  We also have a “fill in the blank” letter for students in younger grades to use to thank their teachers and favorite staff.  Stay tuned to our Facebook page and Twitter feed to see how the PTO honors our teachers, staff, and administrators during Staff Appreciation Week.

OAK POINT WEEK AT NOTHING BUNDT CAKES  Oak Point Week at Nothing Bundt Cakes is May 8-13, during regular business hours (9:00AM-6:00PM).  Buy any bundt product in store and place your receipt in the Oak Point box at the register. Or, place an order online and add "Oak Point" to the comments section of the order form. At the end of the week, Nothing Bundt Cakes will donate 20% of the value of the collected receipts and online orders to Oak Point.

FINAL PTO MEETING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR  The final PTO meeting of the school year is May 11 at 9:30AM in the PAL.  Please join us for an update from the administration, a financial update, a review of the 2017-18 budget, a review of the 2017-18 calendar of events, and the election of the 2017-18 PTO board.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR KINDERGARTEN WELCOME & FIELD DAYS   Volunteers are needed for two upcoming events.  First, Eden Prairie Schools is hosting Kindergarten Welcome Events at all of the elementary schools this spring. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the Oak Point Welcome Event on May 18.  Sign up online and help make our incoming Kindergarten families feel welcome at Oak Point.  Field Days will be held on May 31 (Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade) and June 1 (1st grade, 4th grade, and 6th grade.)  Parent volunteers are needed for each grade level’s event to help ensure that things run smoothly.  Sign up online to volunteer.

YEAR-END CELEBRATION   Our annual year-end celebration will be held June 1 behind the school on the basketball courts.  We will have four food trucks again this year: Taste of Target Field, Tot Boss, and two Kona Ice trucks.  All food trucks accept cash and credit cards.  There will also be a DJ and dunk tank.

OPEN PTO BOARD POSITIONS FOR 2017-18

The PTO Board has started planning for the 2017-18 school year, and we are currently seeking several new board members.  Openings include Vice President, Communications Co-Chair, Community Fundraising Chair, and Secretary.  A summary for each of the open positions is listed below, and detailed descriptions can be viewed on our website.  If you are interested in one of the open positions or would like to talk to one of our current board members about what position might be a good fit for you, please contact the PTO at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  The PTO Board for the 2017-18 school year will be elected at the May 11 General PTO Meeting.

Vice President

Always wanted to know more about why Oak Point operates the way it does? Looking for a way to get to know more parents and staff members?  Serving as Vice President is a good way to step in and learn about Oak Point and build relationships along the way.  Primary responsibilities include providing input on budget decisions, setting up and coordinating restaurant nights and in-school assemblies, and helping as needed at the District PTO Council meetings and with additional PTO functions.  Average time commitment per week is 2-4 hours, and much of the work can be done outside of school.

Communications Co-Chair

Do you enjoy social media and like to be in the know about what is happening at Oak Point?  Our current Communications Chair is looking for a co-chair that she can work with throughout the year to transfer her knowledge and expertise in preparation for the following year.  The communications chair will be responsible for regularly updating our website, maintaining the PTO Facebook and Twitter accounts, drafting blackboard communications as needed, and creating flyers for meetings and events.  Average time commitment per week is 2-4 hours, and a majority of this work can be done outside of school.

Community Fundraising Chair

One of the main reasons we are successful as a PTO and are able to provide so many resources and opportunities for our students is because of our fundraising events and community partnerships.  Going forward, we feel it is important to have someone who can oversee these critical functions to ensure the continued success of our PTO.  Responsibilities for this new position include serving as the primary contact for the Boosterthon Fun Run, overseeing the Silent Auction and Raffle committee for Carnival, working with Fun2Raise in the creation of our student directories and calendars, and building and maintaining relationships with local businesses who can provide support as needed throughout the year.  Average time commitment per week is 2-4 hours, and much of this work can be done outside of school.  The time commitment may increase leading up to the two major fundraising events.

Secretary

Are you interested in getting involved with the PTO Board but not sure which role might be right for you?  The Secretary position serves a very important role of taking minutes at all PTO Board meetings (1 per month) and PTO General Meetings (3 per year) and may also help with other duties such as incoming mail, scheduling meetings and events, and volunteering at activities.   Average time commitment for this position is 2-4 hours per month.
