Open Board and Chair Positions for 2017-18
Always wanted to know more about why Oak Point operates the way it does? Looking for a way to get to know more parents and staff members? Serving as Vice President is a good way to step in and learn about Oak Point and build relationships along the way. Primary responsibilities include providing input on budget decisions, attending monthly PTO Board meetings, and helping as needed at the District PTO Council meetings and with additional PTO functions. Often the Vice President will also hold a leadership position in one of our fundraising events.
Average time commitment is 2-4 hours, and much of the work can be done outside of school.
Do you enjoy social media or have fun with graphic design and like to be in the know about what is happening at Oak Point? The current Communications Chair is seeking a co-chair or two to work with throughout the 2017-18 school year to transfer her knowledge and expertise in preparation for the following school year. The Communications Chair is responsible for regularly updating our website, maintaining the PTO Facebook and Twitter accounts, drafting blackboard communications as needed, and creating flyers for meetings and events. This role can easily be split into two positions, one responsible for flyers and blackboard communications and the other for social media and website communications.
Average time commitment per week is 2-4 hours per week, and a majority of the work can be done outside of school.
The current Carnival Co-Chairs are looking for 1-2 new people to collaborate with them this year to oversee the Carnival planning process with the intent to take it over the following year. Many tools and processes have been put in place the last few years to make this job manageable. The main duty of the Co-Chairs is to oversee the Carnival Committee to ensure each area is organized, serve as the main point of contact for school administrators, and staff, and be available during the Carnival for any questions or issues that may arise.
Staff Appreciation Committee
The Staff Appreciation Committee organizes events for staff throughout the year including conference meals in October and February and Staff Appreciation Week in May. This may also include doing little gifts of appreciation at other times during the year.
School Supply Box Coordinator
The School Supply Box Coordinator coordinates the process for ordering and delivering school supply boxes with our outside vendor. This position includes reviewing school supply lists, collecting order forms, and distributing boxes at Open House in the fall.
